Shopware product change history: who changed what and when

The price is no longer right, the description is suddenly different, and nobody knows who did it. Shopware only shows when a product was last changed. The PIM keeps a log per product with user, time and type of change.

4 min readFor Shopware 6.6 and 6.7

What the PIM does here
  • Log per product: created, master data saved, variant edited, images added, cross-selling and translations saved, each with user and time.
  • Approval traceable: submitted, approved, sent back for revision with reason, approval withdrawn.
  • Filterable by action: created, changed, deleted.
  • Configurable: retention, entries per product, logging on or off.

What Shopware logs in the standard

Shopware stores the time of creation and of the last change per product. Who changed it and what is not recorded on the product. When several people or agencies work in the admin, an error can hardly be traced back.

The change history in the PIM

In every product's detail view the "Change history" section shows a timeline. Each entry names the action, the user, the time and a short description, for example:

ActionExample
Createdproduct created, with product number
Changedmaster data saved, variant edited with changed field, images added
Changedcross-selling saved, translations saved, master data transferred to variants
Approvalsubmitted for review, approved, sent back for revision with reason

The history is a record, not a restore. Which values exactly changed and how to reset them is shown by the snapshots.

Frequently asked questions

Does Shopware show who changed a product?

Not in the standard. Shopware only stores the time of the last change. The PIM logs user, time and type of change per product.

Do I see the old values in the history?

The history names the type of change. The old values of a bulk edit or an import are shown by the snapshot with diff view, where they can also be restored.

How long is the history kept?

90 days and at most 100 entries per product by default. Both are set in the config matrix.

Where is the data stored?

In your Shopware database.
