Change Shopware delivery time, tax rate and manufacturer in bulk
Shopware delivery time, tax rate and manufacturer are quickly maintained as long as one product is concerned. When a supplier changes its delivery times, a tax rate changes or a brand takes over a range, hundreds of products are often affected. In PIM for Shopware you find them via filters, change all three values in one bulk edit and maintain them via CSV with plain names instead of IDs.
- Manufacturer in the "Assignment" tab, tax class in the "Prices & stock" tab, delivery time and restock time in the "Shipping" tab.
- When the tax class changes, the gross price stays and the net price is recalculated.
- Filters with "Missing" and "Present" find products without manufacturer or delivery time.
- CSV columns with plain names: the import creates missing manufacturers, delivery times and tax rates.
Delivery time, tax and manufacturer in standard Shopware
In Shopware all three are separate entries that the product only references. A delivery time like "1-3 days" is created under Settings, as are tax classes with their tax rate. Manufacturers are maintained in the catalogue. The product points to one of these entries in each case. Variants without a value of their own inherit it from the main product.
It gets difficult with changes that affect many products. A new manufacturer for an acquired brand, a longer delivery time for a supplier's whole range or a different tax class for a product group mean many single edits in the standard. With the tax rate there is a fundamental question too: should the gross price for customers stay the same, or the net price? Anyone who does not decide this up front ends up with odd final prices in the shop.
Change Shopware delivery time, tax rate and manufacturer in bulk in the PIM
Find the affected products
The product list filters by manufacturer, tax class and delivery time. For manufacturer and delivery time there is also a status filter with "Missing" and "Present" that makes gaps visible right away. In the dashboard the completeness checks "With manufacturer", "With delivery time" and "With tax class" count how well your catalogue is maintained.
Assign a manufacturer
In the "Assignment" tab of bulk edit you choose an existing manufacturer from the list under "Assign manufacturer". It is set for all chosen products. Removing a manufacturer is done in the "Clear fields" tab.
Switch the tax class: gross stays
In the "Prices & stock" tab you choose the new tax class under "Assign tax class", shown with name and rate. The PIM sets the tax class and keeps the gross price. It recalculates the net price from gross and the new rate and rounds it to the cent. This applies to all price entries of the product. Run the switch on its own and change prices in a second run afterwards; the price change then already works with the new tax rate. For included variants without a price of their own, the PIM creates the price based on the inherited one as the variant's own price.
Delivery time and restock time
In the "Shipping" tab you assign one of the delivery times created in Shopware with "Delivery time". The restock time is entered as a number of days. If the field stays empty, the run clears the value. You remove a delivery time completely in the "Clear fields" tab.
Required fields in the detail view
In the config matrix you mark manufacturer and delivery time as required fields if needed. If they are missing when saving, the detail view opens a list of errors, and one click jumps to the affected section. This way new products are not created without these details in the first place.
Via CSV with plain names
In the CSV import you use the columns manufacturerName, deliveryTimeName and taxRate. The PIM looks up the matching entry by name or rate. If it does not exist, it creates a new manufacturer, a new delivery time or a new tax class. So check the spelling, otherwise duplicates appear. Alternatively there are the ID columns manufacturerId, deliveryTimeId and taxId.
Step by step: switch the tax class for a product group
- Create the tax class: create the required tax class in Shopware under Settings if it is still missing.
- Filter products: narrow the product list down to the product group and the previous tax class and save a preset.
- Open bulk edit: choose the preset as the source and switch to the "Prices & stock" tab.
- Choose the tax class: switch on "Tax class" and choose the new class. The note that the gross price stays and the net price is recalculated confirms the behaviour.
- Run: check the overview and start the run. The snapshot saves tax class and prices beforehand.
- Spot check: open a few products and compare gross and net. If needed, restore the previous state via the snapshot.
Use cases
- Supplier extends delivery times: filter all products of the manufacturer and assign the longer delivery time in the "Shipping" tab.
- Brand takeover: assign a range to the new manufacturer via a preset.
- Reduced tax rate: switch a product group to the reduced tax class without changing the final prices.
- Close gaps: find all products without a manufacturer via "Manufacturer: Missing" and add it in one run.
- Supplier data: take over manufacturer and delivery time via CSV with plain names.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to the price when I change the tax class?
The gross price stays the same, the PIM recalculates the net price from gross and the new tax rate. This way the final prices in the shop do not change.
Can I change the delivery time for many products at once?
Yes. In the "Shipping" tab of bulk edit you assign a delivery time created in Shopware to all chosen products.
How do I find products without a manufacturer?
Via the status filter "Manufacturer" with the option "Missing". The same exists for the delivery time.
Does the CSV import create missing manufacturers?
Yes. Manufacturers, delivery times and tax rates that are not found by name or rate are created by the import. So keep the spelling consistent.
How do I remove a manufacturer or a delivery time?
In the "Clear fields" tab of bulk edit. The snapshot saves the previous values.
