Bulk change Shopware prices

Adjust prices for an entire range, calculate from the purchase price, set list prices and keep tier prices clean - in one run and with a way back.

Key facts
  • Seven price modes: fixed price, percentage and amount up or down, plus purchase price plus percentage or amount.
  • List price as a fixed value, as a percentage above the selling price or as a surcharge, or removed in bulk.
  • Link tier prices to the base price, release links or define the tiers anew per price rule.
  • Before the run a snapshot saves the previous state.

Changing prices in standard Shopware

Typical pricing tasks sound simple: raise all products of one manufacturer by 4 percent, calculate selling prices from the purchase price plus a margin, set list prices for a promotion. In the standard admin that means, depending on the task, opening product after product or taking the detour via export, spreadsheet and import. Tier prices are especially tricky: if you raise the base price, the quantity tiers are still at the old level and the discount no longer adds up.

Bulk changing Shopware prices with bulk edit

You open bulk edit in the PIM product list. The source is your selection or a saved preset filter. The price fields are in the "Prices & Stock" area:

Selling price

  • Fixed price: new gross price for all selected products
  • % increase / % decrease: percentage adjustment of the existing price
  • € increase / € decrease: fixed amount up or down
  • PP + % / PP + €: selling price based on the purchase price; products without a purchase price stay unchanged

List price (strike-through price)

The list price appears in the storefront as a strike-through price. You set it as a fixed price, as a percentage above the selling price or as a surcharge in euros, or remove it in bulk. It is only set if it is above the current selling price. The net value follows from the tax class.

Tier prices

Under "Tier price link" you link existing tiers to the base price, release the link or define the tiers anew. When linking, the percentage is derived from the gap between tier price and base price; the amounts themselves stay unchanged. "Define tiers" rebuilds the tiers for one price rule: from which quantity which discount applies, calculated from each product's base price. Other price rules stay untouched. In addition you transfer volume prices from the parent product to all variants.

Step by step: price increase with tiers

  1. Select products: filter the product list, for example to one manufacturer, and save the filter as a preset.
  2. Open bulk edit: choose the preset as the source and review the active filters shown and the number of products.
  3. Adjust the price: in the "Prices & Stock" area enable the price field, choose "% Increase" and enter the percentage.
  4. Apply: confirm the summary of changes. If the snapshot is enabled, the PIM saves the old state first.
  5. Rebuild the tiers: start a second run with "Tier price link" → "Define tiers", choose the price rule and enter the tiers with quantity and discount.
  6. Check: review a few products in the detail view and in the storefront.
See it in context: the section Bulk edit on the feature overview shows this function with screenshots from the Shopware admin.

Tips from practice

  • Tier row from 1: with tier prices Shopware needs a row from quantity 1 with the base price, otherwise the storefront shows the price of a single tier as the unit price. The action "Tier row from 1" adds it in bulk and also runs automatically when transferring or linking.
  • Set the rounding: in the config matrix you decide how calculated tier prices are rounded: exactly to the cent or to endings such as x.90, x.95 or x.99.
  • Update automatically: with "Update tier prices automatically" linked tiers are recalculated immediately when you change the base price in the detail view or the variant dialog.
  • Check the RRP: the "RRP < gross" filter finds products whose list price is below the selling price.
  • Secure cancellations: with the reset-on-cancel option, changes already applied by a cancelled run are rolled back via the snapshot.
  • Clean up snapshots: retention period and maximum number of snapshots are set in the config matrix.

Frequently asked questions

Which price modes does bulk edit offer?

Fixed price (new gross price), increase or decrease by percentage, increase or decrease by amount, plus "PP + %" and "PP + €" based on the purchase price. Products without a purchase price are skipped in the purchase price modes.

When is a list price set?

Only if it is higher than the product's current selling price. Otherwise the existing value is kept, because there would be no strike-through effect. With "Remove" you delete list prices in bulk.

Do linked tier prices follow automatically after a bulk price change?

Automatic updating applies when editing in the detail view and in the variant dialog. After a bulk edit you rebuild the tiers from the new base price with "Define tiers".

Can I undo a price change?

Yes, if "Create snapshot before applying changes" is enabled. You restore the snapshot in the config matrix in the Snapshots tab.

Does a new tax class change the gross price?

No. When assigning a tax class the gross price stays the same and the net price is recalculated.
