Shopware warranty and essential features: label, templates, inheritance
Maintain Shopware warranty and essential features (essential characteristics) without touching every product individually: the PIM brings together the warranty fields for the GARAN label and the essential characteristics templates in the detail view, the variant window, the filter and bulk edit, with notes on why a label does not appear.
- Warranty (GARAN label): warranty duration in months and "Information confirmed", from Shopware 6.7.14.
- Essential characteristics: the template Shopware shows in the cart and at checkout.
- Inheritance: variants without an own value take over warranty duration and template from the main product.
- Bulk maintenance of both fields in bulk edit, a filter for products without a template.
Warranty and essential features in standard Shopware
Shopware knows two pieces of information that become visible during checkout. The essential characteristics are templates that you create in the Shopware settings and assign to a product; Shopware shows them in the cart and at checkout. From version 6.7.14 two warranty fields are added: the warranty duration in months and the merchant's confirmation. They feed the GARAN label. In the standard admin you maintain both per product. With a large range the question quickly arises which products still have no template and why some products show no label despite a warranty entry.
Maintain Shopware warranty and essential features in the PIM
Warranty in the detail view
The section "Warranty (GARAN label)" contains the warranty duration in months and the switch "Information confirmed". The conditions under which Shopware outputs the label are shown right in the section: a warranty duration of more than 24 months, confirmed information, a manufacturer including manufacturer product number on the product and an active switch in Shopware's cart settings. If you enter 24 months or less, the PIM points out that no label will appear, because what is meant is the voluntary manufacturer warranty beyond the statutory guarantee. If the manufacturer is missing, a note appears as well. If the shop runs on a version before 6.7.14, the section shows a note instead of the fields.
Essential characteristics in the detail view
In the master data you choose a template under "Essential characteristics" or set "None". A link leads to the management of templates in the Shopware settings.
Variants and inheritance
In the variant window every variant has its own warranty area and its own selection of essential characteristics. Without an own value, the main product's entry applies and is shown as a placeholder. A cleared field resets the variant to inheritance.
Bulk edit
- Warranty: you set the warranty duration for all selected products; an empty field leaves it unchanged, 0 removes it. The confirmation is left as is, set or removed. The action is only available from Shopware 6.7.14; below that a note appears.
- Essential characteristics: assign or remove a template. It is written only to the selected products. Variants that are merely included via the setting "Include variants by default" remain untouched and keep inheriting the template from the parent.
Before the run the snapshot saves the previous values of both fields.
Find gaps
The "Essential characteristics" filter in the product list knows four states: "No template set", "Template present", "Variant without its own template" and a specific template. In the config matrix you make the fields visible in the "Products" and "Variants" tabs and mark them as required if needed.
Via CSV
For essential characteristics there is the column featureSetId, which expects the template's ID; invalid values end up in the error list. There is no CSV column for the warranty fields; you maintain them in the detail view or in bulk edit.
Step by step: set warranty and characteristics for a brand
- Check the template: create the essential characteristics template in the Shopware settings if it is still missing.
- Filter products: filter the product list by manufacturer and "No template set" and save it as a preset.
- Open bulk edit: choose the preset as the source and switch to the "Assignment" tab.
- Assign the template: enable "Essential characteristics" and choose the template.
- Set the warranty: enable "Warranty", enter for example 36 months and choose "Confirm".
- Check: look at the notes on manufacturer and manufacturer product number in the detail view of some products.
Use cases
- Showing a manufacturer warranty: set five years of warranty as 60 months for all products of a brand and confirm it.
- Special case variant: maintain one variant with a different warranty individually in the variant window, all others inherit.
- Completing characteristics: with the filter "Variant without its own template", find parent products where a variant carries no template of its own.
- Missing label: find products with a warranty but no manufacturer via the notes in the detail view and add the manufacturer, in one go via the "Manufacturer" action of bulk edit.
Frequently asked questions
From which Shopware version are the warranty fields available?
From Shopware 6.7.14. In older versions the PIM shows a note instead of the fields, and the "Warranty" action in bulk edit is not available.
Why does no GARAN label appear despite a warranty entry?
Shopware requires a warranty duration of more than 24 months, confirmed information, a manufacturer including manufacturer product number on the product and an active switch in the cart settings.
Do variants inherit warranty and essential characteristics?
Yes. Without an own value, the main product entry applies. A cleared field in the variant window resets the variant to inheritance.
Does bulk edit write the template to variants too?
Only to the selected products. Variants that are included automatically remain untouched and keep inheriting the template from the parent.
Can I maintain warranty and characteristics via CSV?
Essential characteristics yes, via the featureSetId column with the template ID. There is no CSV column for the warranty fields.
