AI SEO texts for Shopware: meta titles, meta descriptions and keywords
Creating AI SEO texts for Shopware here means: generating meta titles, meta descriptions and keywords for many products at the right length, with fixed rules for every request and a way back. Where no AI is needed, a template with variables fills the same fields for thousands of products. Full product descriptions are covered in the guide AI product descriptions for Shopware.
- Length limits per field, preset to 60 characters for the meta title and 155 for the meta description.
- A master prompt applies to every AI request, in the detail view as well as in bulk edit.
- Individually with ChatGPT, Claude, Mistral or Gemini, for many products with ChatGPT or Claude in bulk edit.
- Without AI: templates with variables such as {name}, {manufacturer} or {mainCategory}, with a preview of the first three products.
Meta texts in standard Shopware
Shopware has the fields meta title, meta description and keywords for every product, per language. In the standard admin you maintain them product by product. In many shops they therefore stay empty, and the search engine picks its own excerpt from the page. Filling them afterwards raises three questions: how do I find all products without a meta description, also in the second language? How do I stick to lengths so that nothing is cut off in the search results? And how do I keep brand spelling and form of address consistent across a thousand texts?
Generate AI SEO texts for Shopware in the PIM
Find the gaps
In the PIM product list you combine custom filters such as "meta title is empty" and "meta description is empty" with the OR mode and save the result as a preset. The "Missing texts per language" filter shows products that lack, among others, meta title, meta description or keywords in a selected language. The dashboard additionally reports "products without SEO data" as an issue with a jump into the filtered list.
Length limits
In the config matrix, tab "Texts & translations", you define under "Length limits for AI texts" how long product name, meta title, meta description and description should be, either in words or characters. The defaults are 60 characters for the meta title, 155 for the meta description, 120 characters for the name and 250 words for the description. The values are passed into the prompt and determine the token budget of the call. 0 means no limit, the model decides itself.
Master prompt
The master prompt is added to every AI request: in the detail view, in bulk edit and when copying from the default language. It holds permanent rules such as form of address, brand spelling, banned superlatives or a fixed note about free shipping.
Single products in the detail view
In the AI window of the detail view you select only the fields meta title, meta description and keywords and leave the description untouched. Context chips control which data the AI sees, for example name, manufacturer, categories and properties, plus a field for your own search terms. You choose the provider per call among the active ones: ChatGPT, Claude, Mistral or Gemini. The results first appear in a preview and only reach the product with "Apply texts".
Many products in bulk edit
In the "AI & texts" tab of bulk edit, ChatGPT and Claude are available, plus DeepL for translations. You choose the fields meta title, meta description and meta keywords, the tone and the target languages per sales channel. Here the AI writes directly into the selected fields; a snapshot before the run saves the previous state. Every product is sent to the API individually, and you pay the provider directly.
Without AI: templates with variables
For consistent patterns you do not need AI. In the "SEO" tab of bulk edit you set meta title and meta description as a template. Available variables include {name}, {number}, {manufacturer}, {ean}, {price}, {category}, {mainCategory}, {mainCategoryPath}, {properties}, {options} and {deliveryTime}. A preview shows the result for the first three products, and via "Channels & languages" you write the value into several languages at once.
Step by step: fill missing meta descriptions with AI
- Set the rules: check the length limits in the config matrix and enter a master prompt.
- Filter the gaps: add the filter "meta description is empty" in the product list and save it as a preset.
- Open bulk edit: choose the preset as the source and check the number of hits and the filters shown.
- Choose fields: enable ChatGPT or Claude in the "AI & texts" tab and tick only meta title and meta description.
- Choose languages: set the target languages per channel and add extra instructions if needed.
- Check: look at samples in the detail view. If something is off, restore the snapshot in the config matrix.
Use cases
- Relaunch: first fill all products without a meta title via the template "{name} by {manufacturer}", then handle the most important ones individually with AI.
- Brand shop: the master prompt fixes spelling and form of address once, so that AI texts from the detail view and bulk edit match.
- Second language: first "Copy from default language", then let the AI rework the meta fields in the target language.
- Categories: the AI texts in category management also generate meta title, meta description and keywords, even for whole subtrees.
Frequently asked questions
Which lengths are preset for meta title and meta description?
60 characters for the meta title and 155 characters for the meta description. You change them in the config matrix in the "Texts & translations" tab; 0 means no limit.
Are existing meta texts overwritten?
In the detail view new texts first appear in a preview. In bulk edit the AI writes directly into the selected fields, and a snapshot before the run keeps the old state ready to restore.
Which AI providers are available for many products at once?
In bulk edit ChatGPT and Claude, plus DeepL for translations. Mistral and Gemini are only available individually in the detail view and in category management.
When do I use a template instead of AI?
When all texts should follow the same pattern, for example name, manufacturer and category. Templates with variables cost nothing and deliver reproducible results; the AI phrases each text individually.
Does the master prompt also apply to bulk edit?
Yes. It is added to every AI request, in the detail view, in bulk edit and when copying from the default language.
