PIM for furniture and home shops on Shopware

A PIM for furniture and home shops on Shopware keeps together the many details customers check before buying a sofa or shelf: material, colour, dimensions, weight, delivery time and care notes. PIM for Shopware maintains this data for whole ranges and helps with the category pages through which customers arrive.

Key points
  • Bulk assign properties such as material, colour or style, and create new groups and options directly.
  • Set dimensions, weight and delivery time for many products and transfer them from the main product to variants.
  • Assign essential features as a template and find products without a template via filter.
  • Category texts with completeness score, AI texts and SEO URL per language.

Typical data problems in furniture and home shops

Furniture is rarely bought on impulse. Customers compare width, depth, height, material and delivery time, and exactly these details have to be complete and consistent in the shop. In standard Shopware you maintain them product by product. This leads to typical gaps:

  • Inconsistent properties: some products have "Material", others do not. The storefront filters then only show part of the range.
  • Dimensions and weight: important for display and shipping, but quickly incomplete for versions in several sizes.
  • Delivery times: stock items, made-to-order items and freight items have different delivery times that change for many products when suppliers change.
  • Information in checkout: Shopware shows essential features in the cart and at checkout if a template is assigned.
  • Category pages: pages such as "Dining tables" or "Corner sofas" are important entry points from search, but often stay without text at deeper levels.

PIM for furniture and home shops: features in Shopware

Bulk assign properties

In bulk edit, the action "Assign properties" adds options such as oak, velvet or Scandinavian to all selected products or removes them again. If a group or option is missing, you create it directly with "Create group" or "Add option". For variants, "Also assign to main product" also writes the options to the parent product. Options without a translation are marked and can be completed in the same dialog.

Dimensions, weight and delivery time

In the Shipping tab of bulk edit you set weight, width, height and length, delivery time and restock time for all selected products. "Free shipping" is in the Master data tab. In the detail view of a main product, "Transfer to variants" copies weight and dimensions, delivery time and free shipping, among others, to all variants, for example for a shelf in several colours.

Essential features and warranty

You choose the essential features template in master data or assign it to many products in bulk edit. The filter "Essential characteristics" shows products without a template. From Shopware 6.7.14 you also maintain warranty duration and "Information confirmed" for the GARAN label, also in bulk.

Category texts and images

Category management shows a completeness score next to each category, based on description, meta title, meta description and image. You fill weak categories with AI texts, for a whole subtree if needed, and adjust the SEO URL per channel and language. On product images you maintain file name, alt text and title directly in the PIM.

Link matching products

"Assign cross-selling" adds an extra group to all products of a series, for example "Matching the series", as a dynamic product group or product list. Existing cross-selling groups are kept.

Typical process: complete a furniture series

  1. Filter the series: narrow the product list down to manufacturer and category and save the result as a preset.
  2. Assign properties: assign material and style in bulk edit and create missing options.
  3. Set shipping data: enter delivery time and, where uniform, weight and dimensions in the Shipping tab.
  4. Add features: assign the essential features template.
  5. Write the category: create texts for the series category in category management and check the slug.
  6. Check: review samples in the detail view and in the shop.
