PIM for multilingual and international Shopware shops

A PIM for multilingual and international Shopware shops first shows you where texts are missing in a language and then closes the gaps in bulk: with DeepL, with AI or as a spreadsheet for a translation agency. On top come feeds and SEO URLs per sales channel and language.

Key points
  • Filters "Missing texts per language" and "Translation" show gaps per language and field.
  • DeepL in detail view, variants, categories and bulk edit, plus ChatGPT and Claude for individual texts per channel and language.
  • CSV with language columns for translation agencies, way back via the import.
  • Feeds per sales channel and language, SEO URLs per shop and language.

Typical data problems in international shops

Shopware stores texts per language. Empty translations fall back to the default language, which is why a gap often goes unnoticed in the admin. Anyone launching a new sales channel for another country then faces a range in which the target language is largely empty. Other typical problems:

  • Unknown status: without a filter you do not know how many products still need name, description or meta texts in a language.
  • Properties and variants: if an option translation is missing, terms from another language appear in the filter or in the variant name.
  • Categories: category texts and slugs also have to be maintained per language.
  • Portals per country: comparison portals and marketplaces expect data in the local language, with the right domain.
  • Interfaces: an ERP sync overwrites maintained translations with the source language again.

PIM for multilingual and international Shopware shops: the features

Find gaps per language

The filter "Missing texts per language" shows products that lack name, description, meta title, meta description or keywords in a selected language. Inheritance between languages counts as present. The filter "Translation" checks name, description or both against one language. You save the result as a preset and use it directly in bulk edit.

Translate with DeepL or AI

DeepL translates name, description, meta title, meta description and keywords from the default language, into single or all languages. In bulk edit, ChatGPT or Claude create individual texts per channel and language if you wish. "Copy from default language" fills empty target languages at no cost, optionally reworked by the AI. Existing translations stay untouched unless you explicitly choose to overwrite them.

One value for several languages

For translatable fields such as meta title, meta description, SEO URL, pack unit and translatable custom fields, bulk edit offers the "Channels & Languages" selection. The value is set in the default language and additionally written to every selected language, without starting the run several times.

Properties, variants and categories

In bulk edit and in the variant generator, property options without a translation are marked and can be completed directly. The generator builds variant names per language from the translated option names. In category management you translate several categories with DeepL or AI; DeepL keeps the HTML tags of the description.

Spreadsheets, feeds and SEO URLs

The CSV export writes further languages as columns following the pattern trans_<channel>_<language>_<field>, and the import reads them back in. In the feed generator you set sales channel and language per feed; the channel determines domain and SEO URL of the product links. You generate SEO URLs per shop and language, on the console with staw:pim:seo:generate and the options --sales-channel and --language. The external system guard monitors texts per selected language.

Typical process: fill a new language channel

  1. Set up DeepL: store the API key in the "Texts & translations" tab and enable DeepL for bulk edit.
  2. Filter gaps: choose "Missing texts per language" with the new language and save the preset.
  3. Translate: start bulk edit with the preset and select the target languages per channel.
  4. Check properties: complete marked options without a translation.
  5. Follow up on categories: translate the categories in category management.
  6. Create a feed: set up a feed with the new sales channel and its language.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find products without a translation?

With the filter "Missing texts per language" or the filter "Translation" in the product list. Inheritance between languages counts as present.

Do I need my own DeepL account?

Yes. You store your DeepL API key in the config matrix in the "Texts & translations" tab. There is a separate switch for bulk edit.

Are existing translations overwritten?

Only if you explicitly tick overwriting. Otherwise DeepL and "Copy from default language" only fill empty fields.

Can I run a separate feed per country?

Yes. Each feed has its own sales channel, language and token. The sales channel determines domain and SEO URL of the product links.

Which AI providers translate in bulk edit?

ChatGPT, Claude and DeepL. In the product detail view, Mistral and Gemini are also available for text generation.
